Attention Business Editors:
Cogitore Completes 2007 Drilling Program at Scott Lake on a High Note
TORONTO, November 19/CNW/ - COGITORE Resources Inc. (the "Company") (WOO: TSX-V) is pleased to provide an update on its 2007 drilling program. A total of 11,084 metres were drilled at the Scott Lake and Lemoine projects. At the Scott Lake project a new massive sulphide-bearing horizon was discovered during the deepening of hole SL-90-45, drilled initially in 1990. This new horizon, located 200m above the Selco-Scott deposit, is hosted entirely within the main Scott rhyolite dome complex and consists of a 15 cm thick interval of massive sulphides that graded: 1.36%Cu, 25.1%Zn, 0.11 g/t Au and 7.4 g/t Ag. The massive sulphides are hosted within strongly altered rhyolites and are underlain by disseminated and stringer sulphides which graded 0.45% Cu over 5.5 metres.
Albeit very thin, the discovery of this horizon is thought to be significant for the following reasons:
The intersection confirms the presence of at least four periods of massive sulphide accumulation on the large (57sq km) property. The property is contiguous over 18km and is located midway between Chibougamau and Chapais, Quebec, proximal to excellent road, rail and mine service infrastructure. Drilling will resume in the winter of 2008 after completion of deep penetrating EM surveys to the east of hole SL-90-45 and also to the whole western part of the property.
Dr. Gérald Riverin, Cogitore’s President and CEO, commented that he is “encouraged by the ancient inter-rhyolite environment sampled by drill hole SL-45E, which allowed such high grade base metal values to accumulate. Until this point we were used to encountering base metal values that average 6.6 % zinc and 0.5% copper. The intersection in SL-45E marks a real and positive departure. Approximately 80% of the ore mined at the Millenbach Mine Noranda, Quebec, where I did my PhD thesis, came from an inter-rhyolite horizon. In the same camp the 14Mt Quemont mine also consisted essentially of inter-rhyolite massive sulphide ore. It is very exciting that in two short periods of drilling at Scott Lake, Cogitore has discovered a new massive sulphide lens (the 800 Lens), approximately doubled the Central Lens in size, discovered copper-rich stringer sulphides and now have a new high-grade massive sulphide intercept in drill hole SL-45E.”
At Lemoine, four holes were drilled for a total of 1,728 metres. Two holes were testing interpreted favourable stratigraphy while the other two holes were testing geophysical anomalies, including a TITAN 24 geophysical anomaly. All holes intersected at least some sulphide mineralization but, although assays are still pending, no economically significant base metal assays are expected. Borehole PEM surveys were done in all holes and one possibly significant “off-hole” anomaly was detected at the end of hole LEM-59, which was testing a TITAN 24 anomaly. LEM-59 was the last hole of the program and some follow-up is required as the anomaly appears to be located near the base of the Lemoine rhyolite package.
Work is carried out by the personnel of Cogitore Resources Inc., under the supervision of Gérald Riverin, PhD, P.Geo. He is a qualified person (as defined by National Instrument 43-101) and has more than 29 years of experience in exploration.
Core is logged and sections sent for analysis are sawn in half at the Company's secure facilities in Chibougamau, Quebec. Half the core sampled is sent to ALS Chemex in Val d’Or, Quebec, for analysis with appropriate standards, duplicates and replicates used for control purposes. The other half of the core is retained for future reference.
The Company has developed a strategic focus on base metal exploration in prospective areas that also feature infrastructure favourable for mining development. Accordingly, it will focus its work in the Abitibi Belt of Quebec and Ontario, and in the Central Belt of Newfoundland.
