Attention Business Editors:
Cogitore Discovers Copper-Bearing Stringer Sulphides at the Scott Lake Project
TORONTO, August 17/CNW/ - COGITORE Resources Inc. (the "Company") (WOO: TSX-V) is pleased to report the discovery of copper-bearing stringer sulphides at the Company's 100% owned Scott Lake Project in Quebec. The discovery was made while deepening hole SL-93-105, which was originally drilled in 1993 to a depth of 852 metres. Stringer sulphides, including chalcopyrite and sphalerite, were intersected in varying amounts from 982m to 1076m, i.e. over a core length of 94 metres. Very encouraging copper values were obtained in these stringers, such as 2.54% Cu over 6.83 metres and 9.67% Cu & 42.42 g/t Ag over 1.50 metres.
Company President Gérald Riverin, Ph.D., P. Geo. stated “We are very pleased with the copper content, the high copper to zinc ratios, the high silver content and the thickness of the interval of this new stringer zone. The potential intersection point between the stringers and the nearby new massive sulphide horizon discovered in SC-04 and SC-05 makes a prime exploration target which we will aggressively pursue in forthcoming weeks.”
Assays are still incomplete due to the exceptional work load at Cogitore’s primary assay laboratory, which is located out-of-province. Samples from four visually better-mineralized sections were rushed to a second laboratory and the highlights of the assay results are tabulated below as weighted averages:

Detailed assays are presented in Table 1 and the piercing points of drill holes testing the interpreted sulphide horizon are shown in the attached longitudinal section. The decision to deepen SL-93-105 was based on review of old borehole Pulse Electromagnetic Survey (PEM) data obtained by a previous operator, as the Company interpreted the presence of a conductor beyond the hole bottom. SL-93-105, which had been stopped in intrusive rocks, was deepened from 852m to 1089m and went through 66 metres of intrusive rock before re-entering altered felsic volcanics at 918m. The sulphide stringers intersected in hole SL-93-105A are hosted in altered felsic volcanics which may be correlated with those found just above the massive sulphides in recent hole SC-05 (see Press Release of August 11, 2006).
A borehole (PEM) was done in the deepened SL-93-105A hole. Results suggest that the sulphides intersected are part of a large conductor and that a “build-up In-Hole” still persists at the end of the hole. This has been interpreted as a response from more conductive material located beyond the end (1089m) of the current hole. Further deepening of the hole is planned for the near future.
The nature and style of the mineralization intersected in hole SL-93-105A is typical of proximal facies of feeder zones to volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits. Given the large spacing between the stringer zone and the new massive sulphide lens, this stringer zone may be related to the massive sulphides intersected in holes SC-04 and SC-05 (which are located respectively 370 metres and 530 metres away), but may also be related to a separate nearby lens.
Work is carried out by the personnel of Cogitore Resources Inc., under the supervision of Gérald Riverin, PhD, P.Geo. He is a qualified person (as defined by National Instrument 43-101) and has more than 29 years of experience in exploration.
Core is logged and sections sent for analysis are sawn in half at the Company's secure facilities in Chibougamau, Quebec. Half the core sampled is sent to Techni-Lab S.G.B. Abitibi inc. in Ste-Germaine, Quebec, for analysis with appropriate standards, duplicates and replicates used for control purposes. The other half of the core is retained for future reference.
The Company has developed a strategic focus on base metal exploration in prospective areas that also feature infrastructure favourable for mining development. Accordingly, it will focus its work in the Abitibi Belt of Quebec and Ontario, and in the Central Belt of Newfoundland.
More details on the Scott Lake project and other Cogitore projects are available at the Company’s web site at www.cogitore.com.
